There are so many great Batman games, it can be hard to know what game featuring the Dark Knight you should play next! Well, here at Gamefabrique, we have the best games based on Batman around and we had a discussion in the office and decided to handpick a few chosen titles that we think best represent Batman in video game form. We decided to start with two of the greatest Batman games of all time, Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City which are both in the Batman: Return to Arkham collection. These two games were huge game changers when it came to superhero video games. They actually make you feel like you are Batman, you can pound in enemies' faces, use all his fancy gadgets and even use his detective skills. The Return to Arkham collection is the best way to experience these two iconic and amazing games.

While the Arkham games show the serious and dark side of Batman, next up we have one of the most fun and light hearted Batman games and that is Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. This game is just so much fun and unlike the first game, we can now play as more than just Batman and Robin as there are tons of iconic DC heroes and villains. This was also the first game to feature voice acting and an open world. Even now, this is one of the most fun Batman and Lego games that has ever been made.

Next up we have something very interesting when it comes to Batman games and that is The Adventures of Batman and Robin. The reason we say this is interesting is because the Super Nintendo and Sega versions of this game are so different. On Super Nintendo, we have a classic side scrolling action game that has levels based on episodes from the show. On Sega, we have something that is more like a classic run and gun shooter! Both games are great, but they are so different it makes for a very interesting comparison.

One of the more forgotten and underrated Batman games is the 2005 release, Batman Begins. This was based on the movie of the same name and while it does follow the plot of the movie, this was a game that really started to make us feel like we were Batman as we played. It is so much fun how using fear to intimidate your enemies is a gameplay mechanic. This game also looks and sounds great to with many of the actors from the movie reprising their roles here. If you loved the Arkham games, this is well worth checking out.

Another game that is interesting because the different versions of it are so different is Batman Returns which is based on the movie of the same name. The Super Nintendo version of this game plays like a classic beat-em-up in the style of Final Fight or Streets of Rage. Batman is brutal in this game and slamming enemies against the wall is so much fun. On Sega, we got a more traditional side scrolling action game, but when it comes to Sega, it is Batman Returns on the Sega CD that people talk about. The driving stages are incredible, some of the best stuff that the Sega CD has to offer!

We already talked about the first two Arkham games, but we felt that we could not talk about the best Batman games and not mention the other two. Batman: Arkham Knight completed the story and is one of the most intense and massive Batman video games ever made, this was a great way to bring this story to a close. However, Batman: Arkham Origins also deserves some attention. This is actually a prequel and the Christmas setting makes it one of the more unique games in the Arkham series.

There are perhaps more Batman games than any other superhero and to be fair, there are far more good than bad ones. We feel like we have shined a spotlight on some of the best video games that The Dark Knight has to offer so fire one of these up and see if you can hang with the world's greatest detective.
