Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2 is an incredibly fast-paced FPS title. While the first 2014's Titanfall was multiplayer-only, Titanfall 2 introduces a surprisingly engaging campaign mode, mixing sci-fi elements with giant mech action. Similar to games like Half-Life and Halo, Titanfall 2 offers an exciting mix of futuristic and military elements. There are also a slew of online modes for competitive multiplayer, letting you test your skill against players around the globe. By mixing parkour elements with quick shooting action, Titanfall 2 stands out as one of the coolest and most entertaining FPS games in the past decade.

Main Game Features

  • Thrilling single-player FPS campaign
  • Over 10 unique multiplayer modes
  • Mixture of human and mech action

Story

In Titanfall 2's solo campaign mode, players control Jack Cooper, a lowly soldier in the Frontier Militia. Set in a solar system beyond the Milky Way, the Frontier Militia battle against oppressive IMC, a group looking to harvest the system's planets for valuable resources.

Utilizing both human soldiers and piloted mech-suits known as Titans, the Frontier Militia are a fierce force of firepower. At the start of the story, Jack's mentor Captain Lastimosa is killed, leaving Jack in control of his ultra-powerful Titan named BT-7274. In addition to the new mech, Jack also takes on Latimosa's final mission, requiring him to trek to a hostile IMC facility. Over the course of the story, Jack must sharpen his skills as both a rifleman and Titan pilot, overcoming the odds with a slew of powerful abilities.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Titanfall 2 is reminiscent of other modern first-person shooters like Call of Duty, but with a notable sci-f/militaristic theme. Players can wield a variety of weapons by using Jack's various loadouts, while also controlling the massive mech suit with its own high-tech abilities. A major aspect of the gameplay, both in the campaign and multiplayer, involves the parkour-style movement system, which allows you to wall-run, dash, and execute other fast-moving maneuvers. Other unique gameplay mechanics are scattered throughout individual levels, including an immensely creative time-travel feature.

In addition to the solo campaign, Titanfall 2 offers over 10 different multiplayer modes. There's a great variety of both deathmatch and objective-based modes, including Free-for-All, team-based, and 1v1 playlists. Titans play a bigger role in multiplayer, as there are six different classes of mech, each with distinct abilities. This includes a powerful “core” ability, ranging from high-damage attacks to powerful buffs. Certain modes also allow you to face off against AI enemies, giving you the opportunity to practice before challenging real-world opponents.

Conclusion

For both fans of single-player FPS games and frenetic online multiplayer experiences, Titanfall 2 offers a breathtaking and exciting package. Although the solo campaign is on the shorter side, every level feels memorable and richly detailed, with numerous fantastic set-piece moments.
