Project Buramato

I have a good friend to thank for showing me Project Buramato. This is an action RPG that is truly spectacular in the visual department. Based on Bornean folktales, it is something that the more I hear about it the more I am interested in what it has to offer. Full disclosure here, we do not exactly have a ton of information about this game right now. However, I do still want to talk about it and why I am so excited about it. The only downer is that on Steam it is listed as 2022, but it has a little hyphen that also says 2023!

The Old Lords

Apart from the fact that they are using Bornean folktales as the inspiration for the story and the setting of Project Buramato, we do not know a great deal about the story. We know that we get to explore the lands of “the old lords” and that there is a dark curse that can somehow manipulate to give us powers. However, as far as the real motivations for what is going on, we do not know what they are as of me writing this. I do think it has a ton of potential though and the little bit of gameplay we have seen makes me think this is going to be a real epic fantasy story.

This Is A Shooter?

When I started reading about Project Buramato I was sure it was going to be your typical action RPG kind of game. However, the more I learned about it the more I was impressed with what they are trying to do in the gameplay department. The action here looks very quick paced, I get a kind of Bayonetta or Devil May Cry vibe from the quick way the character dashes and jumps around the screen. However, it is the fact that the gameplay in terms of its combat seems to have more in common with a shooter than your typical action RPG. The more I think about it the more I think Devil May Cry is a great comparison for what we have seen so far when it comes to the gameplay.

Two Zelda’s Combined

What really grabs your attention the first time you see footage of Project Buramato is the fantastic visuals. This game is just pure eye candy. What I mean by two Zelda’s combined is that while many games have a kind of Breath of the Wild look to them, I think this has that, but it also has the cell shaded style of The Wind Waker as well, actually, Genshin Impact might be a better comparison as far as the visuals go. I am very excited to explore this amazing world and see some of these fantastic creatures that are here.

Pros:

• The game is based around Bornean folktales which is very cool
• The combat in this game has a kind of Devil May Cry look to it
• I love how bright and detailed the visuals of the game are
• This world looks like it was taken from a fantasy anime

Cons:

• There is a real chance we might not see the full version of this game until 2023!
• We actually still know very little about the game
