Future Fragments

Future Fragments is a Patreon funded game that at first, I did not expect much from. However, after spending many hours with the game I must admit that this is the kind of adult-themed game I like. Sure, the game has sex in it, but it is one of those games where it is actually offering far more than that.

The Future Will Save The Past

One of the first things that is worth noting about Future Fragments is the story. I was not expecting much, but it is kind of cool. The game at first is set in a medieval world where you play as one of two hot chicks trying to save your kingdom. The battle is getting too much for your kingdom so your king sends you into the future to collect the fragments of a special weapon that can turn the war in your favor.

That right there is a strong enough story, but there is more. Once you are in the future, there is another story like running where this future is an oppressed place where there is no sex and things are bleak! It is very well-done stuff and I must admit I got way more invested in the story here than I thought I would.

Mega Hot Girl

As far as the gameplay of Future Fragments I would say that Mega Man X meets Castlevania Symphony of the Night is the best comparison. The game is very well done in terms of its game design. It plays like a 2D run and gun exploration style of game and the gameplay feels nice and tight. I like the way you can decide what order to play the levels in. there are many different enemy types and there is a handful of bosses to take on as well.

There is a ton of different endings in the game too! You get one of these by making various choices as you play the game. This is something handled quite well and it gives you more of a reason to play through the game multiple times and trying different choices. The hentai scenes I can take or leave if I am being honest with you guys. This is a game that stands on its own as a good game even without all of the hentai stuff.

I am very impressed with what Future Fragments is offering. This is a fun game and a game that I can see myself playing through more than once. The core gameplay that is on offer here is solid and fun. If you like Mega Man or Castlevania games you are in for a treat here. Even the story, the presentation, and the soundtrack are great too! In all this is a very well-made game and if you are into hentai, that is an added bonus for you as well.

It feels like forever ago since I first saw Future Fragments! The game has been moving slowly along its development cycle and I recently managed to spend some quality time with it. I have to say, this is not your typical lewd game. This is a fully fledged 2D action game and it is like that was the focus and then they added in the XXX stuff. That is not meant as a knock, far from it. It means that this is a game that has lewd content rather than the other way around which is always for the best. Even though you can purchase the game, it still needs some work and to be fully finished so please keep that in mind.

A Future With No Sex

One thing that is awesome about Future Fragments is the premise of the story. It takes place in a world of magic, kind of like a mixture of sci-fi and fantasy. Our King is in real danger as a force that he cannot possibly fight off is coming for his kingdom! He uses his power to open up a time portal to the distant future where an ancient weapon will be lying! It is in “fragments” and we are tasked with getting the fragments and bringing this weapon back…. Oh, this future that we are going to has outlawed sex as a way to make people more productive so the people here are desperate for sex!

Getting The Tone Just Right

When it comes to the way the story is presented, the Mega Man X series is the best comparison. The reason I say this is that Future Fragments has a lot and I mean a lot of dialogue. It is one of those games where sometimes it feels like you just take a few steps and you have to get more dialogue. The thing is, while I love the premise of this game, the tone is all over the place. They had the bones for a solid blend of sci-fi and fantasy, but they try to cram in way too many jokes and without being harsh, there are so many jokes in the game and many of them fall a bit flat. I love bad jokes as much as the next guy, but this game overuses them.

A Vania Of The Metroid Variety

I guess we would have to say that Future Fragments is a Metroidvania game as it does follow many of the tropes that you would find in one of those games. However, it is also a bit of a Mega Man game too. Each stage has you needing to explore, find the right items, defeat a boss, and learn new moves and abilities that will help you progress. As a 2D action platformer, I felt that the gameplay was great. It was tight, you always felt like you were in control and the challenge was just about right. I will say that the game is still not complete and there are some sections that feel like they are unfinished due to missing dialogue or being completely not finished.

Mighty Number 69!

Hey, I bet a few of you get a kick out of what I did there! Future Fragments is a solid looking game, it has a kind of Mega Man and I guess Mighty Number 9 look about it. The backgrounds could do with a little more detail, but to be fair, this is a future that is all about all work and no play so I guess it works. The game has some very slick animation that is super smooth. There are some great hand animated cut scenes, the game says that there are over 100! There is even some voice acting which adds a bit of fun and makes some of the cheesier dialogue more manageable.

Pros:

• I was impressed with how tight the gameplay was
• There are lots of XXX scenes
• There is a morality RPG kind of system here too
• The game has some solid voice acting that is actually in English!

Cons:

• The game has been in development forever and it is still not done!
• Some of the jokes are really bad and not bad in a good way
