Vincent: The Secret of Myers

What an awesome game Vincent: The Secret of Myers is! As I write this, we are still awaiting the story to come to a close, but you have several chapters to sink your teeth into. If you love creepy and horror in your games, this is one point-and-click adventure game that you have to spend some time with. Also, the developer seems like a really good dude and they are offering a pay what you want thing for this so if you play it and enjoy it, throw them a couple of bucks, one dollar is better than nothing!

Cyborgs! When Will We Learn?

The setting of Vincent: The Secret of Myers is awesome and it is like a mixture of sci-fi and horror, two genres I love and two genres that do not get smashed together enough. Five years ago there was something called “The G4 Cyborg Incident” This led to the huge Myers Corporation being brought to its knees. As a result, the G4 district has seen a slow and brutal decline, making it a less than great place to be.

Is That A Keycard In Your Pocket?

The main character that we play as in Vincent: The Secret of Myers wakes up inside this creepy as hell mansion. We have lost our memory so we do not know who we are or why we are here, but we have a Myers employee keycard in our pocket and that is the only clue we have as we try to figure out what is going on! I just love this stuff, it is creepy and it has some awesome jump scares, but the writing is so great and the mystery is always dangled just a little bit away from you so you always want to progress to see what is going to happen next. As we explore we find out that this abandoned place is abandoned for a very good reason.

There Is A Mystery Afoot!

This is classic point-and-click-adventure gameplay at its best. Vincent: The Secret of Myers is a bit of a slow burn, but that is one of the things that I loved about it. As we explore this place and get further and further into this compelling mystery. We get more puzzles to deal with and have to really think about what we are doing. There are many interactive elements going on here and while it is challenging, I never felt that it was too cryptic just for the sake of being so. It is a game where the level of challenge feels very fair and when I did solve a puzzle after being stuck for a short while, it felt awesome.

Raising The Creepy Factor!

I love the whole vibe that Vincent: The Secret of Myers has going on. The game has a very interesting color pallet that really does make everything here pop. The characters have a kind of Tim Burton style to them which I love and there are some great jump scares here, a couple of which came out of nowhere and made me jump out of my skin! I just love the whole style of this game and think that the developer did a wonderful job as the creepy style of the visuals helps add to the drama and the uneasy vibe that the story throws at you.

9.5

Even though I have yet to bring this fantastic creepy story to a close, Vincent: The Secret of Myers is a must play game for me. This thing is just awesome and it completely clicked with me on pretty much every level. The only reasons that I could see someone not liking this is if they do not like creepy stuff and point-and-click-adventures. This is such a great game and one that I think if it does build up a big enough following I could see getting some kind Limited Run physical release which would be amazing!

Pros:

  • I loved the creepy vibe of the story
  • The visuals look fantastic and very unique
  • The puzzles are challenging, but not to the point of frustration
  • It has bits of horror, sci-fi and mystery!

Cons:

  • If you struggle with jump scares, this may be too much for you
  • You do have to like point-and-click-adventures to enjoy this
