Captain Pawsome is a delightful 2D fishing and shop management simulator that puts you in the paws of an adorable cat captain. Your goals are to explore the vast oceans, clean up environmental waste, catch a variety of fish, upgrade your ship, and manage your own shop by selling the items you collect on your maritime adventures.

I instantly fell in love with the charming art style and quirky premise that makes Captain Pawsome stand out among other underwater games like Shinsekai Into the Depths. The lighthearted tone and cute cat captain provide a uniquely cozy experience compared to the lonely isolation of Subnautica.

Sail the Seven Seas in Style

One of the best parts of Captain Pawsome is the ability to fully customize your cat captain and ship. As you progress, you can unlock new cat breeds, fur patterns, outfits, and accessories to make your captain truly one-of-a-kind. I loved mixing and matching different looks to create my personalized captain.

You can also upgrade your ship in meaningful ways, choosing to focus on cargo capacity, speed, durability, or aesthetics. I aimed to make my ship as eco-friendly as possible while also making it stylish with colorful sails and flags. The customization options keep exploration exciting.

Ocean Cleanup Crew

Unlike other fishing games that focus solely on the sport, Captain Pawsome has an important secondary objective – cleaning up the oceans. As you sail around, you’ll encounter patches of environmental waste like plastic bags or oil spills.

Using your research camera, you can take pictures of the waste to earn cleaning supplies. Then you can sail back and tidy up the mess. This creates a satisfying gameplay loop and gives you a sense of fulfillment for helping preserve the oceans. I loved feeling like part of the solution.

Shop Till You Drop

A big part of the Captain Pawsome experience involves managing your own shop by selling the various fish, treasures, and materials you collect on your seafaring travels. The economic simulation aspect creates an engaging meta-game on top of the sailing and fishing.

I enjoyed decorating my shop with cool items to attract customers, then using those profits to invest back into upgrades for my ship. This cycle of sailing, collecting, selling, and upgrading is extremely addicting and gives you an ongoing sense of progression. In the end, I wholeheartedly recommend Captain Pawsome for its incredible charm, customization options, and eco-friendly gameplay.
