Ziggurat 2

Ziggurat 2 does what all good sequels should do and that is improve on what came before it. This is a super fun roguelike FPS that is all about fast-paced action. It is the kind of game that is great to fire up and play when you have a spare 10 to 20 minutes. At the same time, it is also the kind of game where you can get so addicted an hour can fly by in no time at all. If you like fun, but challenging shooters, you owe it to yourself to give this a try.

The Magical Order

To say that Ziggurat 2 has a barebones kind of plot is an understatement, but the game somehow gets away with it! The idea of what is going on here is that you are part of the most powerful magic order and your job is to protect the world from the diabolical forces of evil that wish to do harm!

It is fun stuff, but truth be told it is more of a premise that gives you an excuse to blast a ton of monsters than a thought provoking story.

Back In The Day!

This is a twitch kind of shooter and I am not talking about the streaming service! Ziggurat 2 is a game that is very fast-paced and those who do not have quick reflexes may struggle at first. This is a game where you will just want to keep on moving and shooing and you will sometimes feel like you need eyes in the back of your head to dodge what feels like a never ending onslaught of enemies. It in many ways feels like the way first-person shooters used to be before they got slowed down and more story driven.

What Kind Of Magic Spell To Use?

When you play Ziggurat 2 the levels are always randomly generated! The skill comes from actually being good at the game, but also in how you organize your weapons before you start a new mission. Making the wrong decision in regards to your loadout can be fatal. On the flip side of this, if you get the loadout just right for the chosen level, you can feel like a god as you lay waste to all that come before you. You will be in this citadel before a mission and it is here you can decide how you want to play for the mission that is ahead. It can be tempting just to jump straight in, but I highly recommend you give it some serious thought.

Cute, But Very Deadly

I love the whole style that they have gone for with Ziggurat 2. It is a game that despite being set in dungeons and in an evil fantasy world is bright and colorful. I really do like what they have done here and many of the enemies have a little bit of cuteness about them that is fun.

The different locations are also pretty varied too, meaning that you do not get bored of seeing the same thing over and over again as you play.

Pros:

• There are many cool weapons that you can use
• It is challenging, but never frustrating

• There is not much in the way of a story here
