Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Ultimate Edition

Ys IX Monstrum Nox Ultimate Edition brings us back to one of the classic RPG sagas. It is an entertaining and accessible title, with a great exploration system and very dynamic combat. For some time now Ys has been becoming a cult game saga. Ys VIII came to offer us something we all expected, a great action RPG title. Also known as ARPG now comes Ys IX. It is Falcom's most ambitious title to date. It will hook you from the first moment. Perhaps there are not too many novelties, but it offers us much more and better than before.

About the game

On this occasion, Adol wakes up in the dungeons of the city of Balduq, not quite sure how he ended up in a cell, but with the determination to escape from there as soon as possible. Without going into spoilers about the story, our adventurer ends up escaping and becoming part of a group of warriors, the Monstrum, capable of transforming themselves to fight against horrible creatures and purge the "invaded" areas of the city.

The story of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is divided into a series of chapters, although to advance in them will be done in a somewhat peculiar way, as it will require us to obtain a Nox score. To do this we must perform different actions, which basically consist of defeating enemies in the city or completing secondary missions (defeating enemies, finding characters, obtaining objects, etc.)

Although in theory these missions should be optional, when it comes down to it they are not so much, since in certain sections it will be essential to complete some of them in order to continue progressing in the main story. This will unlock new areas of the city and we can recruit more companions to obtain skills, new stores, access new dungeons, new rewards, etc.

But not everything will be combat, since exploration is also important in this title. In this installment you will be happy to know that it is very satisfying, thanks in large part to the new abilities incorporated and more vertical scenarios, which hide a multitude of secrets. Not only will we be able to explore the city, but we will also be able to travel to other environments outside its walls.

We definitely had a great time with this game, and it's especially great for anyone that loves a good RPG like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.
