I have been following Techtonica for a while now as I got a text message from my friend that said “dude, we have to get in on this” and ever since then it has been a game that I have been very excited for. As I write this, we are dealing with a game that is in early access so of course, it still has a way to go before it is fully complete. However, I feel like this is a game that more people need to be into, and as I love factory building games this one here is actually one of my most anticipated games of 2023!

Beneath The Alien Planet

Ok, so I am a sci-fi nerd and that could be one of the reasons why Techtonica is so appealing to me is the setting. They have been very mysterious about the whole plot about this game and that just has me even more intrigued about it! As of me writing this, what I have learned is that the game takes place beneath the surface of an alien planet and we are learning more and more about this place as we explore, but all is not what it seems! This has the potential to be a real epic sci-fi kind of thing going on!

Being The “First Person” To Explore

As well as the cool sci-fi/alien world story that Techtonica has going on, another thing that made this game stand out and the thing that had my buddy very excited was the gameplay. This game is played in a first-person point of view which is rather unusual for this kind of game. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of another factory/building style game that has an exploration style like this. In some ways, it reminds me of a more in-depth and fleshed out Minecraft type thing, but with way more automation.

Building For The Future!

I love stuff like Factorio or anything else where I must build these big automated machines that just get to work and pump out resources. However, it is the building of these machines that is where the real fun here if you ask me. You need to find all these resources in order to build these machines and they start us off with the bare basics and it is up to us to build upon this and it is something I find very exciting. Not only that, but the whole base building and organizing of my machines and factories is something that I get very invested in.

A Colony For The Future!

Now, remember how I said that Techtonica was a game my buddy was excited about? Well, a huge reason for that is that this game is going to offer us the ability to play with our friends. It has said that it is going to offer up to four player co-op! I love the idea of playing this with my buddy we head out looking for resources and plan our factories together. Inevitably spilling up, falling out, and deciding to do our own thing! I am very, very excited about the multiplayer potential of this game!

Even though we are dealing with a game that is played under the surface of an alien world, Techtonica is a game where the sky is the limit as far as the potential goes! I have played a ton of factory building games over the years, but not many have had me as excited as this one does. I think that the shift to the first-person gameplay style is part of what makes this such an exciting game! Be sure to keep a close eye on this one as even in early access I can see just a massive amount of potential here.
