Survival: Postapocalypse Now

Another game throwing its hat in the survival genre is Survival: Postapocalypse Now which seems to have skated under a lot of people’s radars. Clearly, games like DAYZ are a huge inspiration for this and it is worth pointing out that if you are having a hard time finding information about this game, it more often than not just goes by the name SURVIVAL and yes, it is all in caps!

Who Am I?

I really wish that I could give you guys a clear indication of what exactly the story of the game is. You start off alone in the middle of nowhere, with no clothes and no idea what to do, expect that you need to survive. You have a handy bat that you can use and this thing is a lifesaver in the early stages of the game. All you know is that the world has gone to hell and that you need to do all you can to survive.

Loot All You Can!

The game is actually pretty generous with the loot. Within a few minutes of playing, I came across an abandoned vehicle and when I looted it, I managed to get a few items. This post-apocalyptic world is cold, damn cold so finding clothes is essential. As is finding food and of course ammo and other supplies that you need to survive. I found the weapons and ammo to way more plentiful than I thought and that was something I was actually pretty appreciative of.

The most fun that I actually had with Survival: Postapocalypse Now was when I came across another human player. He had more cool gear than I did so I assume he had been playing the game a while. He took me under his wing for a short while and the game with us going around, taking down bad guys (hey I consider us to be the good guys) getting supplies and so on. More often than not the people we came across wanted to take what we had, but on occasion, we would find a good person and they would join our ranks.

This is what the best aspect of the game is if you ask me. I liked working with people, even knowing that one at any point could turn and try to kill the rest of the group to get all of the loot we had gathered. Technically the game is not firing on all cylinders and I found that the game would not crash on me, but I would get stuck in doorways when I was opening a drawer and so on and this did take me out of the game.

In a world where there are a ton of SURVIVAL games, Survival: Postapocalypse Now is not really doing a great deal in shaking things up. It is not a bad game by any means, but I think if I had not come across that dude willing to help me, I would have probably quit playing the game far sooner. It could be worth a look if you like survival games.

Pros:

• I really enjoyed playing with other people
• The game is not too stingy with the loot
• Ammo is not super scarce like other survival games
• They are selling it for a very budget price
• It is my understanding more updates are coming

Cons:

• The game has a few technical issues
• It is not really doing anything spectacular in any regard
