Portal Knights was one of the most awaited games of 2016. It is an action RPG developed by Keen Games. It is a great game that offers unique sandbox type environment similar to that of Minecraft. The game was loved by a lot of players but it did not capture the same fan base as Minecraft.

Initial Release

The game was first released on February 25th, 2016 on Steam. Subsequently more versions of the game were released for different OS platforms. The game also has a mobile version released on 6th December (2017).

Gameplay

As already mentioned the game has a somewhat similar structure to that of Minecraft. It is an amazing blend of building structures and exploration. The game also has a role-playing aspect to it. You can roam around the world, fight creatures and build structures in the game. The artistic style and texture of this amazing game was also inspired by Legend Of Zelda game series. If you are a fan of role plating action games that let you take control of the world and let you build things then this game would be ideal for you.

Modes Of Game

Whether you are with friends or all alone, this is an amazing game to play. If you are bored and nothing else to do then just turn on your console or mobile and start playing this exceptionally good game that came toe to toe with Minecraft in 2016. If you are playing online then one thing to keep in mind is that there can only be 4 players in the same world at the same time. So you can either fight with each other or help each other fight other monsters and creatures in the game.

Accolades

The game did fairly well in the market however the reviews were just average as compared to how the game was developed. It was developed to be the next Minecraft but it did show promising results. However, the game still won several different awards including Best Online Game award for 2016 in an the Deutscher Entwicklerpreis Awards event in Germany.

Ratings

The game has a really good gameplay. The graphics are very good as well however the game seems too similar to Minecraft which takes away all the originality from the game and this definitely affects the rating of the game. The game does offer both single and multiplayer experiences which is a good thing. We rate 2016’s Portal Knights 3.5/5.
