Monster Souls

Monster Souls is part of a growing trend when it comes to lewd video games. I would actually be interested to know how many lewd games have been released over the last five or so years that have souls in their titles! This is a hard as nails action game that is for those of you who are into and get a kick out of gay sex, well I say gay sex, but we have monsters banging our hero so does that count? Anyway, while this is not perfect, I still enjoyed my time with this one and wanted to share my thoughts.

A Special Kind Of Power

One area where I wish that Monster Souls went a little deeper in is the story. I feel like there is a very interesting story somewhere in here, but all we really get are the basics. The story has us playing as a young adventurer/warrior and we have a special ability that allows us to take the “essence” of these beasts and transform into them in order to use their power! I really wish that it went a bit more “all in” with the story as I would have liked to have known more about this world.

Back At One

That is a Brian McKnight reference and I would wager I am the first person in history to write a review of a lewd game and name drop, Brian McKnight! Monster Souls is a great looking game! I love the dark and dreary dungeon setting of things and think that it very much does have a Bloodborne or Dark Souls style vibe about it and that is awesome. The thing is, the lewd content repeats like crazy! You lose a fight, you get banged by the monster and that is the only lewd content here. It is very well done, but you see the same scenes over and over again, but with a different monster and there is no way to skip them which is kind of annoying after a while.

By My Blade

As far as actually playing the game goes, Monster Souls is very challenging and worthy of the Souls name. The game as I write this is still being updated (or so I am led to believe) so the “issues” I have may be resolved by the time you read this. You basically wander through this land, taking on the monsters that you meet along the way. Combat is very basic, but the enemies take a ton of hits and much of the progression through the game is about what items you have to aid you.

Some of the enemies can be flat out cheap so I do think we need some balancing fixes. However, this game is designed to be challenging so I went with it and I did enjoy myself. Yet on the flip side of that, I can see why for some, this would perhaps be a tad too frustrating.

Pros:

• I love the world the game is set in
• It has some pretty hot gay (well monster gay) sex scenes
• It is a very challenging game that requires a fair bit of strategy during combat
• The game is still being worked on so I think its future is very promising

Cons:

• Sometimes the challenge can feel more unfair due to the enemy balancing
• The sex scenes are great, but they do repeat a great deal and last a tad too long
