Mafia III: Faster, Baby!

As the first DLC offering, Mafia III: Faster, Baby! Certainly had a lot to live up to. I will admit that Mafia 3 is not a perfect game, but man, it had an awesome and very well written and acted story that really did suck me in. So, getting the chance to go back to that setting was certainly something I was very excited to do.

(Un)Welcome To Sinclair Parish

Like the original Mafia III, the best part of Faster, Baby is the story. Lincoln from the first game is reached out to by The Voice who needs his help. The Sinclair Parish is a racist no good place with a corrupt sheriff who is perhaps the biggest racist of them all!

The sheriff is on the verge of being taken down in a huge case, but people who are going to testify keep going “missing”. This is where Lincoln comes in as he is joined by the feisty and awesome, Roxy who is the daughter of The Voice as they try to bring peace to this town. I love the characters, setting and I was genuinely surprised at how great the story was.

Slow Ride, Take It Easy!

As well as a new story Mafia III: Faster, Baby! It also has some new gameplay elements for you to enjoy. These are mostly to do with the driving. The coolest one is how you can slow down as you drive. This is really handy for when you are driving super-fast and need to take a tight corner. You can also toss explosives from your car which is, first of all, a great deal of fun, but it also comes in very handy when you have some bad guys hot on your tale.

More Of The Same

You are probably looking at around 4 hours or so to beat the main story which for DLC is not bad. There are plenty of side missions that you can do, but in all honesty, these are not that exciting. To be fair, this was a problem Mafia III had too. The core gameplay I feel has not been radically changed, but if you liked Mafia III, you will have fun here.

Anything Else New?

Another new part that they added to the game which I found to be really weird is the drug house. Here you can get really scientific with how you grow weed and you can make some major money this way. Some people found this to be a rather pointless addition to the game, but I actually found it pretty addictive and it kept me busy long after I had finished the main story.

I think that if you enjoyed Mafia III, you will have a lot of fun with Mafia III: Faster, Baby! The story is so good that I feel they could have used it as a means to make a whole new game around it. The way you can slow down time and throw explosives from your car makes driving way more fun than it was in the base game. if you liked the main game, check this one out.

Final Score: 8/10
