Last Train Outta' Wormtown

Last Train Outta' Wormtown is some of the most fun that I have had playing video games with my friends this year! The premise of the game is so simple, but it is just so much fun and my buddies and I have had an absolute blast playing this on our game nights that thanks to life and family responsibilities are becoming harder and harder to organize, but games like this make them so much more fun and worthwhile when we are able to get the chance to organize one!

Feeling The Tremors!

You know, it is kind of crazy to me that we have never had a game based on the awesome cult hit movie, Tremors, but Last Train Outta' Wormtown is the next best thing. Taking place in a Texas style or wild west place, we play as “pardners” that need to escape from this hell hole before an evil giant worm gobbles them all up! On the flip side of this, we have our big worm that really wants to eat these pardners for its lunch!

With A Little Help From My Friends!

You may think that is a Beatles reference, but it is The Wonder Years that I was going for there! Anyway, the whole point of Last Train Outta' Wormtown when you are playing as the pardners is that you need to work together in order to get out of the town. You need to fuel and load the train and you do this by completing various objectives throughout the town. The twist is that the worm can only detect you when you are actually walking on the sand. You need to try and make it through the town without stepping on the sand as much as possible which is easier said than done! You really do have to work together, sometimes a friend will have to take one for the team and work as a distraction for the worm!

Beetlejuice’s Worst Nightmare!

“Sandworms? You hate 'em right” Hey, if you are playing as one of the pardners in Last Train Outta' Wormtown, you will no doubt feel just like Beetlejuice in your hatred for those pesky sandworms. One player can play as the sandworm and the sandworms goal is to kill all the other players! The sandworm can zip around the map at high speed, traveling underground and blasting up through the sand to get the unsuspecting pardners. I will admit that for me personally, playing as the sandworm is not as much fun, but I do have a couple of buddies that prefer it.

Playing Is The Best Part!

Last Train Outta' Wormtown has a rather basic look to it, but it has a ton of charm! You can customize your pardner (and the worm) which is fun. As I write this, the game is still in early access, but for the most part, it runs really well, I did read something weird about the game not working right if your clock is not set to automatic, but me and none of my friends have had this issue. Also, something really cool about playing this game is that you can “share” it with your friends via the Friends Pass system which is awesome.

Pros:

• This is one of the most fun multiplayer games of the year
• The way it uses Friends Pass is really cool
• Despite being fun, the game can be super tense as well
• This is a game that makes you have to work together and that is a huge part of the fun

Cons:

• No word on what is going to be added to the game in the future
• The game is still in early access as I write this and some people have reported a few technical issues
