Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is a DLC expansion for the original game. The expansion continues the story of the game’s central character, Aloy, as she moves farther into new territory.

In order to play the new expansion, players must have completed the main quest story on the PS5 version. Once they’ve completed the main quest, players will receive a call over Aloy’s Focus, an augmented reality device that is critical to the game, that begins the new DLC.

Large Amount of Content Expected

The new DLC has not yet been released, but there are a few things we can guess about it based on previous releases. When Horizon Forbidden West: The Frozen Wilds was released for example, it was set at a price point of $19.95. Since Forbidden West has the same price point, we can guess that it probably has a similar amount of content. Frozen Wilds came in at about 8 hours of new main story, which is a significant amount for a DLC.

Beautiful Clouds

Another new feature added that many people are looking forward to is the beautiful Skyscapes that will be coming with the DLC. The skies in Horizon Forbidden West have always been good, but new developments have made them incredible in Burning Shores.

The clouds players can fly through have been steadily improving since the games inception. Burning Shores transforms the clouds from beautiful scenery that can be flown through and enjoyed, to a whole new area to explore. In the sky there are tunnels that can be flown through, caves to explore, and other surprises dotted throughout the skyscape.

Great Storyline

As can be expected from the series, the new plot is just as interesting as past content. In this new DLC, Aloy is sent to explore the wreckage of Los Angeles, which is now a dangerous volcanic archipelago. There will be new characters to meet, new adventures, and a few secrets that have not yet been released.

We don’t entirely know what the game holds because the developers have been somewhat secretive about it. What we do know is that past DLC has been well made, and this new piece of content has had even more developments added in. The level of effort and detail that has gone into the creation of this DLC is amazing, and at a relatively modest price point for DLC, there’s no reason not to get this latest new addition to the series.
