Fort of Chains

Fort of Chains is the kind of game that is going to either appeal to you or not, there is no middle ground with a game like this. I am someone that has enjoyed many text based lewd games over the years. However, I will also admit that they are a real acquired taste kind of thing. I have a good friend and we share similar tastes when it comes to lewd games, but he cannot get into text based games at all. Anyway, this is a management style game that has a cool setting and a very dark and twisted style of writing!

Slavers Using Slaves

The premise of Fort of Chains is that we are the leader of a slave group. We have different slaves that work for us and we are basically heading out on quests to literally rape and pillage the land like some kind of no moral having Viking that just wants everything their own way. To be honest with you, the overarching story is not all that great, it is more about the quests and the various characters that you meet, fight, bang, and use along the way.

The People We Meet Along The Way

The best part of the writing in Fort of Chains is the character descriptions. There are tons of interesting fantasy style characters that you can enslave and use in the game. The descriptions here are fantastic and make you feel like you really know these characters. They give you a bit of information about what the character was doing before you came along as well as a physical description and some information about their personality. It is these along with the quest descriptions that will get you most invested in the game.

They Keep Going Up!

What we have here in terms of the gameplay in Fort of Chains is the “numbers keep going up” kind of game. I guess, you could say that it is a management style game, but you tend to do the same loop over and over again. You pick your slaves, decide what training they will do, pick a team of slavers, and then the random number generator will either be your friend or not! There is base building too, but that feels rather strange as it is like you have to build a base that is way too big for the amount of people you have. To be honest with you, I never managed to develop a sound strategy here for managing and training my slaves. Everything felt like it was a 50/50 chance if what I was doing would succeed or not.

The Light Between The Text

As Fort of Chains is a text based game you are not getting epic 3 minute long animated sex scenes here. However, there is still some good art in the game to keep things from just being pure text on the screen. To be honest, I am not sure if the art here is made specifically for the game or taken from elsewhere as that more often than not does seem to be the case for lewd text based games. No matter where the art is from, some of the character designs are very hot so that is something I appreciate. The UI is decent enough and I never found myself struggling to find a certain menu or where I should click.

Pros:

• The setting of the game is cool
• I loved some of the character descriptions
• Some of the stuff here is pretty extreme!
• I do think that there is something fun here with the gameplay

Cons:

• The RNG nature of the gameplay may frustrate some people
• I wish there was a bigger overarching plot tying this all together
