Dandy Boy Adventures

With a cool art style and an 80s setting, Dandy Boy Adventures is a lewd RPG that I had a lot of fun with. Let me tell you right off the bat, this game is not perfect and it seems to have people really split on if they like it or not. I though did think there was a lot of charm to the game and the fact it did not demand like 20 plus hours of my time was something that I found to be very welcomed. If you like the 80s and lewd RPGs, I suggest you keep on reading to see if this is a game for you.

Getting Around And Getting It On

One of the many divisive things about Dandy Boy Adventures is the story. For an RPG, this is not as story driven as you would think. There are no large walls of text that you need to read, complex characters, or stuff like that. This town has quirky characters that you get to talk to and know, but the base of the story is that we are a randy dude, who loves the babes and wants to get as much action as he can.

Bound To This Earth

One of the first things that captured my eye with Dandy Boy Adventures was the art style. EarthBound has to be the inspiration for the presentation of this game… well the actual gameplay part, not all the thick chicks and nudity! It has a kind of surreal look to it all and the stuff the characters are wearing and the aesthetic in general, does have a kind of 80s feel to it. The girls tend to be of the thicker variety here, but I have to say that is one of the things that makes me like the game even more.

Getting A Little Lewder

While I liked many of the character designs in Dandy Boy Adventures, I have to say that the lewd content is not the best. Do not get me wrong, it seems like there is plenty of it. However, most of the sex scenes in the game are the same and the camera can get way too close to our hero’s butt! Also, the animation in the lewd scenes is not all that great either. This is one area that I feel needs more work.

Not Just Hard, NES Hard!

If you look online the biggest complaint that people have about Dandy Boy Adventures is the difficulty. Sometimes this can be a “where the hell am I supposed to go?” kind of game and that can get frustrating. You need to talk to pretty much everyone and you will come across various mini-games such as a puzzle one and a racing one. Now, these games are fun and play ok, but the winning conditions are very, very strict, you have to be pretty much perfect at all of the mini-games and that can make them more frustrating than fun.

I know that Dandy Boy Adventures is a lewd RPG that is far from perfect, but I still had fun with it. It only took me around 7 hours to see all that it had to offer and much of that time was spent trying to perfect the mini-games!

Pros:

• I liked the 80s setting of the game
• The way the visuals reminded me of Earthbound was kind of cool
• There are different mini-games for you to play
• The length of the game is just right

Cons:

• The winning conditions of the mini-games are way too harsh
• The XXX content needs more variety and animation

Let’s face it; most lewd RPGs don’t care much about developing a story and instead take you directly to the action. You can feel like developing a story can’t be really necessary as the main objective of lewd RPGs isn’t exactly having a story to tell, but having some empathy for the characters can be an important part of a game of this kind.

Then, we have Dandy Boy Adventures, a project which is still in development but with enough content to be fully playable and have a great time with it. It’s not a perfect game; it has bugs and can sometimes glitch but considering this is a one-man project, this is such a great thing to have!

Alex’s Quest For Action

Dandy Boy Adventures’ protagonist is a guy named Alex, who lives in a town named Beagletown. Alex is not a deep guy; all he wants to do is get laid, and our objective is to meet and get some action with the most girls we can. That’s pretty much it. The cool thing about Dandy Boy Adventures is meeting the girls; it’s enjoyable to see how some characters have more to say than “Take your clothes off!” or “Come here and claim your prize!”

Nonetheless, Dandy Boy Adventures has a big flop you won’t skip and will make you suffer. The game can get confusing and by a lot. There will be several moments when you don’t know which one is the next step, and you’ll be wandering through the map, trying to figure out where to go.

Earthbound Boy Adventures

The design of this game, both gameplay, and graphic-wise, is heavily inspired by late 80’s RPGs such as Final Fantasy or earlier ones like Chono Trigger, but it’s fair to say that Dandy Boy Adventures draws the most inspiration from Earthbound or Mother.

The character design and the map design are a clear wink to Earthbound. The only thing we miss here is the music, which isn’t as good as it can be.

What About The Lewdness?

If you are here looking for a very pervert game, let me tell you that Dandy Boy Adventures will disappoint you. Most of the time, the action will be resumed with a female character bending towards Alex, and then, a close-up of Alex’s butt while he’s getting happy.

This is an aspect the game can try to get better by having some cinematics of the action or simply having a better close-up than just Alex’s neck moving back and forth. Drawing this kind of thing can’t be that hard, right?
