I am going out on a limb here and saying that I think Catie in MeowmeowLand might be the best looking game I have seen so far in 2022. This is a game that is just pure eye candy, but the game design is a real throwback to the point and click adventure games that were huge in the 80s and 90s. Actually, this genre has seen a real resurgence in the last decade and games like this actually are more refined and polished than many of the “classics” that we played and enjoyed back in the day.

A New Take On An Old Classic

One of the things that really intrigued me about Catie in MeowmeowLand was the fact that the story is a take on the classic Alice in Wonderland story. In this version, Catie, follows a cat and she ends up in the strange land of MeowmeowLand and the story of the game is about her trying to find her way home. It is all done for laughs and the way the story unfolds with these funny text boxes, but with images is very clever.

Come On Grab Your Friends

I have already said that Catie in MeowmeowLand is a very impressive game visually. It has such an interesting and attention grabbing style to the visuals. In many ways, the visuals remind me of the TV show Adventure Time. They have a real cartoon/storybook that has come to life thing going on. There are very cleverly designed characters that have a ton of personality and I just love the whole world that they have created here. As this is a new take on Alice in Wonderland, things do look familiar, but in this game's own style. Add to this a very fitting and whimsical soundtrack and some voice acting that is superb and you have a game that really does have an excellent presentation across the board.

The Art Of A Man Called Lucas

I think when you play any kind of point and click adventure game, comparing them to the classic Lucas Arts games is the done thing. Catie in MeowmeowLand is a game that follows many of the classic gameplay styles of this genre. There are tons of different screens you will have to explore. Talk to characters, find items, solve puzzles, and so on. If you are a fan of this genre, you will feel right at home with what this game is offering. They are designing the puzzles to be tricky, but not to the point of frustration.

There are some great point and click adventure games coming out in 2022, but Catie in MeowmeowLand is one of the ones that I am most looking forward to. I think that this game just has a ton of charm going for it and I love this new take on the classic Alice in Wonderland story that they have going on here. Add to this some fantastic visuals and an interesting way of telling the story and you have a game that truly has the potential to be something very special.
