Breed Laboratory

When I was playing Breed Laboratory I could not help, but feel that with a bit more work and a bit more polish, the game could be something very cool. This is a 3rd person survival horror like experience a genre that does not mix with lewd games all that often. If you like to see a hot chick get nailed by a bunch of creepy and gross looking monsters, you have well and truly found the game for you.

What Were They Cooking Up In There?

They reference games like Silent Hill and Escape from the Giant Insect Lab as the inspirations for what we have going on here with Breed Laboratory. We awaken in a scary and creepy lab like something out of a Resident Evil game and we need to get out! There is not a great deal to the story, to be honest with you, we just know that there are all kinds of gross monsters here and we need to escape. I do think they could have gone a bit further with the story, but as a premise, I will say that I do quite like it.

We Go Walking!

I read one review of Breed Laboratory that said the game was more like a walking simulator than a survival horror game and I kind of get what they were saying. The game has us walking from one room to the next, trying to “clear” it off the monsters that inhabit each of the rooms. The combat system is as basic as you can get, pressing just a few buttons here and there. There is an inventory management system here that I feel could be a bit better as it is a bit stingy with the amount of things you can carry especially health items.

The 90s Called And Want Their Tank Controls Back!

Breed Laboratory is a game that is lacking in polish. Some people will tell you that it is a broken clunky mess, but that is not the case at all. The game is a bit rough and a tad on the clunky side I will admit as it has a kind of 90s tank control thing about it. It is the little things like getting stuck in a corner or not being able to enter a room after you have cleared it that hold the game back. Again, it is nothing broken or terrible, but it does certainly lack a bit of polish which is what holds the game back. I think if you have played 90s 3rd person games that were a tad on the rough side, you may be able to forgive some of the issues this has more.

The Creepy Monster Mash

I am someone who has never been into the whole monsters banging lady’s thing and that is what Breed Laboratory is all about. Breed is not just a gimmick either, they do have a pregnancy mechanic which kind of grossed me out, but hey, it is there if you like that kind of thing. There is a lot of sex in the game as pretty much every creature you come across has its own sex scene with you. The animation is solid and the creepy creature designs are well done, but they did not just click with me, but at the end of the day that is a personal preference.

Pros:

• I liked the whole gimmick of trying to escape a lab
• The creepy monsters are well designed
• It has a kind of 90s PC early PlayStation vibe about it
• There is a bit of exploration

Cons:

• The whole game has a kind of clunky unfinished thing going on
• There is not much complexity to the game at all
