A Dance of Fire and Ice is one of those games that looks simple, but it is so fiendishly challenging that it will really knock you back. It is a game where you can see all that it has to offer in just a few hours, but it is a game that if it gets its hooks into you, you will want to come back to it time and time again. I have played many rhythm games over the years and this is one of the strangest that I have come across.

Dancing Across The Cosmos!

There is not really a story at play here in A Dance of Fire and Ice, more of a premise. There are two planets and they are dancing all across the cosmos. One of the planets is red (which is the fire) and the other planet is blue (which is clearly the ice) and I guess you could interpret it in different ways as some kind of love story.

The Spacebar

The spacebar, it is kind of something that we all take for granted these days, but in A Dance of Fire and Ice, the spacebar is all you need to worry about. The planets will spin around each other and it is all done just with the spacebar. You have to press it to the beat and you are probably thinking that you have played rhythm games before and you know the deal. However, the timing required in this game is so precise that it is one of the most challenging games of this style I have ever played!

A Few Hours To Travel To Infinity

I would say that you can do all of the levels that A Dance of Fire and Ice has for you in just a couple of hours. It is certainly a game that is short and sweet. However, you will want to keep coming back to it to try and get better and better. There are different modifiers that you can add to make things more interesting. Of course, it is an amazing soundtrack that ties all of this together and keeps you playing.

What I like about the soundtrack here in the game is that it is so varied, it does just have one style and I think that really does keep you on your toes in regards to getting used to the timing aspect of the game.

I can see why so many people got addicted to A Dance of Fire and Ice. I myself played the hell out of it for about a week straight! However, I can also see why some people may find the game more on the frustrating side than fun. It takes a lot of patience and practice to get good at this game. Also, as much as I enjoyed my time with it, I did get to a point where I had my fill and that was that. While some diehards I am sure will stick with it long time, I found that once I had my fill, I did not have a desire to go back to the game.
