The year is 3050. Wars are fought with seven-story BattleMechs armed with the deadliest weapons known in the galaxy. These sixty-ton hunks of metal are piloted by MechWarriors, the only ones brave enough to fight the ruthless armies of the Inner Sphere in the name of their Clans.

Nine futuristic weapons are available in Battletech to outfit your Mech, including: a Gauss Rifle, Arrow VI Missiles, Particle Projection Cannon, Machine Gun, Auto Gun, Large Laser, “Inferno” Short-Range Missiles, “Maelstrom” Long-range Missiles, and “Thunder” Time-delay Mines. You are free to choose any three of these weapons to complete your mission objectives, which involve taking out various structures on the ground. As you pilot your Mech across the battlefield, you'll have to watch for mines, enemy Mechs and defense systems.After completing each world, you'll receive a password to resume your destruction at a later time.

Battletech is also known as Battle Tech.

You have to imagine how cool it would be to pilot one of those AT-AT Walkers from The Empire Strikes Back. Mowing down those puny Rebel scum that scurry beneath your guarantuan mechanical feet. Blasting everything that moves and crushing anything that gets in your way. There you go, that's the spirit!Battletech will leave you smiling. It is tremedous fun. I have to confess to a lack of knowledge regarding this whole Battletech phenomenon but, from what I gather, the structure of the game is based on it's board game roots.

The missions are expertly crafted to keep you on your toes. Battletech game does not have the same somewhat, loping pace of the Strike series. You can't just figure out the safe paths, stick to them and complete your objectives piece by piece.The enemy Mechs are relentless. They'll hunt you down like Tommy Lee Jones from “The Fugitive”. When you hear that incoming Mech warning, you better hope you're not close to overheating, 'cause there's gonna be a firefight to deal with son. And, you best be prepared.

The graphics in Battletech won't make you cry but they will impress. There is quite a lot of detail; more attention to the enviroment is payed than was in the Strike games. And, because your Mech is quite rooted to the ground (Ka-thump, Ka-thump…) it is susceptible to earthly dangers, such as pockets of molten lava and geysers of intense burning rocks. You know, just the kind of stuff you see on your way to work.

Take control of a Matcat Mech as you fight your way through several level of mechanized mayhem. Use machine guns, rocket launchers, homing missiles, flame throwers, mines and atomic bombs to defeat the encroaching enemy threat. The different levels have different terrains, such as snow, ice and swamps which affect the progress of your mech. In Battletech you can also kill the littler mechs by stomping on them, which is always fun.

Your Mech can turn on a dime and the spin and shoot movements of the upper torso give you precise finger twitching response. You'll be blasting things before you even see them. You can definitely feel the weight of each crunching foot step even though the camera view of the action is strictly from a bird's eye perspective.
