Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Turtles in Time Re Shelled is an absolute powerhouse of nostalgia just waiting to kick off. You are in for a treat if you have never played this game before. I wont sit here and pretend that the game is hard, but it is a perfect gateway to fond memories, and for younger gamers to try something that is a bit simpler than some of the titles released nowadays. If you want to learn more about a game that offers some great visuals and clean gameplay, then keep reading as we go further in.

Gameplay

The gameplay is very straightforward, use the directional keys to move and slap a button to attack or jump. That’s pretty much it from start to finish, and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, its just simple. Each of the turtle brothers have their own strengths and weaknesses, and its up to you to find out what they are and how best to use them. It handles a bit like a much easier version of Battle Toads or Castle crashers.

If you have a child or a younger sibling that you want to introduce to gaming, this is the perfect title to do it with. Colorful visuals, straightforward gameplay that isn’t too challenging, and multiplayer, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for the perfect gateway game to get someone into the medium without overloading them with stuff to learn and enemies they couldn’t hope to beat.

That being said, there is definitely some variety here as there are many different levels that offer some very different fights for the turtles to battle through. Some enemies ride dinosaurs, and some try to jump onto a moving train to fight you, its all stuff that adds up into a game that’s more than you would initially think.

Visuals

The visuals of this game are perfect. The turtles are a nice bright green and the enemy foot soldiers are all purple and orange and red and such, making it a nice contrast, allowing you to easily keep your characters in you sights at all times. The stages and bosses are all brilliantly delivered and have a uniqueness that keeps them all fresh and interesting. Throughout it all, I found the game to be a true joy to play even though it wasn’t particularly challenging, and I think that is something that most people will find.

Story

The story of the game is simple as you could ever want. The game starts off with the turtles watching a television broadcast with April O’Neil reporting from Liberty Island. Does everything go swimmingly for her? No, of course it doesn’t.

Obviously, notiorious douchebag and chewed up bubblegum cosplayer Krang shows up and steals the entire Statue of Liberty. Why would he do such a thing? Well, you’ll have to hunt to fool down and find that out for yourself, won’t you? Let’s just say that things get a tad bit crazier from there on out.
