Pink Goes to Hollywood

Get ready for a 'very pink Christmas, gamers! With this fine SNES game diving into the 16-bit pool alongside the new Genesis Pink Panther, kids everywhere will be happily humming Henry Mancini's famous theme song.

Feline Groovy

When Pink hits Hollywood, he immediately leads a chase through MGM Studios, with Clouseau and all kinds of nutty enemies in pursuit. Pink bops enemies' heads, squirts 'em with blasts of pink, and pulls endless surprises from his Bag of Tricks as he tries to escape. The adventure winds through various Pinkified movie sets, including Polter Pink, Pinkinhood, Cat on a Not Pink Roof, and Pinkenstein. Toll Gates provide Magic Carpets, Bridges, flying Umbrellas, and other colorful connectors between levels.

In addition to the puns, mild sight gags lurk around every corner. There's a lot to uncover and enjoy in Mr. Pink's Neighborhood.

Pink Rocker

In this game, you'll hear the panther's theme music a few jillion times. Fortunately, it's been appropriately revised for each level, as exemplified by the enchanting medieval arrangement Sherwood Forest. There's supplemental music, too, like the bouncy honky-tonk piano that plays for the Western-themed Pink Ranger. The music works with the clear, clever sound effects to earn this game the highest Sound rating possible.

Pink's just as good graphically. The dazzling colors, detailed backgrounds, and fluid movements will make you think you're playing a technicolor cartoon. Pink moves, climbs, runs and jumps with a nimble, easy-to-control grace.

In the Pink

If there's a missing link to Pink, it's the game play. Pink's Bag of Tricks adds a new dimension to hop-n-bop game olay and the levels do get harder as you progress, but it's still a relatively basic game. A wider variety of weapons and the ability to shoot on the run would've made this a faster, better game. Basically, only young players and novices will find the game challenging and delightful.

Pink Goes to Hollywood is a purr-fect game for younger gamers and fans of the cartoon. With Sylvester and Tweety looming on the horizon, TecMagik's about to corner the market on great cartoon-based games. For now, though, think pink!

The Pink Panther is always getting himself into trouble. This time, he has wandered into a movie studio in Hollywood and is lost within the scenery! Besides avoiding Inspector Clouseau, he must also go through a maze of levels with different enemies and music within every stage. In each scene, Pink has a hat that goes along with the movie set he is currently in. This acts as protection from one hit. Once you lose it, you will be vulnerable to damage. Along the way, you will find Tricks and Toll cards. When you pick up a Trick, you can use it to attack or freeze your foes. For example: Pick up a Trick and turn it into a fly swatter. It will attack your enemies for you temporarily. Toll cards have different symbols on them, indicating how it will help you. Just drop the card in the toll box and it will help you on your way!

The famed Pink Panther has struck fame once again. After wreaking havoc in a hollywood movie set, Inspector Clouseau begins to hunt him down. As the Pink Panther, you must cover 12 different movie sets, from Pinkenstein's Lab, to the elaborate Amazon Pink. To help you, you are armed with bowling balls and the ability to spring trap doors.

As you can probably tell by the pictures, the graphics look just like the animation. Don't forget the classic song. You'll find it here, too! If you want to be a cool cat, and want to be a little weird...take a trip to Hollywood!

The cool pink cat makes it to home systems! However, you may be better off with the Genesis version of this one, because the Super NES counter-part suffers from stiff control and unappealing levels

Pink Pun-ther

As in the newly released SNES cart, the Genesis' precocious Panther is stirring up trouble on Hollywood movie sets. A flummoxed Inspector Clouseau chases him through such pun-happy backdrops as Honey, I Shrunk the Pink, Polter Pink, and the Pink Ranger. Special Tricks and Toll Cards still add extra surprises when battling enemies or trying to scale new heights. New to this version are some tricky Sound Stages for jumping practice between levels. Also, more and bosses populate the main movie sets, adding welcome new challenges.

Thankfully, the game play of the Genesis cart improves over the SNES version, where sluggish controls and repetition added frustration to the fun. Here, Pink jumps farther than he used to, and he's better able to dodge obstacles. He no longer bops enemies on their heads, but he does whip out a quick-draw Boxing Glove that's more effective than the feeble Pink spray he had on the SNES. Another good addition is the Health Bar, which joins with two extra Lives to make this Panther more durable than he was before.

Graphic and Sonic Purr-fection

TecMagik has made both Pink games gorgeous. Strong colors and detailed multi-scrolling backgrounds give this Genesis game a look similar to, but still different from, the dazzling SNES version. Some of the enemy sprites do look a little too simple at times, but overall this game captures the full technicolor flavor of the classic cartoon.

One of the supreme achievements of Pink Goes to Hollywood is the music, which is as good here as it is on the SNES. Henry Mancini's familiar swingin' tune punctuates all the action, with new arrangements adding the appropriate thematic touch to the various levels.

Dreaming of a Pink Christmas

Younger gamers especially will be captivated by the Pink Panther's 16-bit charms, but older gamers will also find lots to like in this Hollywood frolic. If you thought watching the cartoon was fun, wait until you play it.

Who hasn't laughed at the Pink Panther's cartoon antics or hummed this cat's familiar theme song? The famous feline is making his 16-bit debut on both the Genesis and the SNES and judging by the early previews of the Genesis game. It's about time. It looks terrific!

Pink Purrfection

PINK Goes to Hollywood offers 14 imaginative levels for a cat to sink his clas into. When our hero hots Tinsel Rown, he wanders onto various movie sets and encounters all kinds of surprises. The first level, called Honey, I Shrunk the Pink. Is a giant-size world full of giant-size obstacles. The Pink Ranger levels offer a Western town as a backdrop for encounters with tumbleweeds, a Gold Mine and flying cows. Later, Oink navigates his way through the crazy castle Pinkenstein and the haunted house of Polter Pink. Even Inspector Clouseau shows up. It's wild world for this runin', jumpin', swimmin', punchin' panther.

Slapstic comedy, dazzling graphics and infectious music greet the gamer at every time. Fans of colorful, imaginative games will want to make it a very Pink Christmas this year.
