In light of 2020, it can be easy to forget just how much of a big deal Sega was in the early days of gaming. Even up until the late nineties, Sega was part of the console wars and aiming to develop the freshest and most popular IPs for their system. They were the home of Sonic the Hedgehog for crying out loud. Sega may be a husk of their former selves but their legacy still lives on through their catalogue of amazing retro titles. So if you are a fan of these, you may want to get your hands on Sega Mega Games 10 in 1.

This game is a bundle that features ten of the most iconic Sega games that they had to offer in their glory days. These all come in a variety of different styles and game types with side-scrolling platformers, beat ’em ups, sports games and extreme sports titles all featuring on the list of games included.

What’s in the box?

In this package, you get a variety of Sega classics. There is the iconic side-scrolling platformer, Sonic The Hedgehog which will bring hours of fast-paced fun. There is the beat em’ up brawler, Streets Of Rage which delivers its own brand of arcade-style fighting and is coupled with similar games in the genre such as The Revenge of Shinobi and the wonderful, Golden Axe.

Then you have a number of sports-related titles that will give you a variety of different sports to sink your teeth into. This is achieved with games like California Games and Sega Soccer. Then if you want to switch it up to motorsports, you have Super Hang-on and Super Monaco GP which will allow you to race bikes and cars, respectively.

Then if you want something a little different, there is Flicky which has you control and little bird and go around saving baby birds called Chirps in a platformer style game. Or, if you want a reimagining of an old classic, Columns gives you a Sega made take on the popular title, Tetris.

How’s it play?

All the games on offer play at the same quality as the originals with the same look and feel that made us fall in love with them in the first place. The visuals are superb, the iconic sound quality is still intact and the gameplay remains untouched so that you can jump into your favourite classics and relive the action in all its glory.

The bundle also supports multiplayer facilities, with all the games that were built with this function being playable with an extra player. So you can race, punch or skate your way to victory against your friends.

Nothing but classics

If you’re going to do a bundle, the success will depend purely on what games you choose to include. It’s a lot of pressure but this game handles it and gives the player a wide selection of games with varying genres, art styles and gameplay functions. Sure, there may be nothing new on offer here, but it’s nice to have all these games in one place.
