Karate Champ (origin name: Karate Do or "The Way of Karate") is an arcade game published at 1984 and developed by Technos Japan Corporation for company Data East. It is rarest fighting game. It is first game witch possess first to use long time ago common side-perspective. Nevertheless, Heavyweight Champ (video game), released in Japan by Sega Mega Drive, used the same side-perspective and precedes Karate Champ for whole eight years!

In this game, the player plays a role of a Karate opponent and fights against different karate-fighters or the computer Karate master. You can use joystick, or even 2, to support 2 players gaming simultaneously. Two players can perform a lot karate moves and hits.

Gameworld consists of a two dimensional fighting between Karate-do characters, who wears nice white and red gi, Rounds followed by different bonus stages for winner or successful gamer. This game-strategy review itself in the next stages - more hardened and challenging round sets. Background changes with the stages!

Unfortunately in this game as later fighter-type game, there are no health bar or hp system. A well-blow witch successfully landed your opponent - ends the round and gives the gamer or his opponent either one point or half point (with this a scores you must reach top ten but this has no consequence of victory or match won). The winner will be who first score 2 points. Game featured some rarely speech synthesis, when karate judge scream out speech as "Fight!" or "Winner!" It's funny when pronounced in Japanese (but it only in the Japan version).
