Micro Machines 2 - Turbo Tournament

The second game of the Micro Machines series. Like in its predecessor, you behind the steering wheel of an extremely small car. You race around on interesting places, like a table, a treehouse and many more.

Micro Machines 2 hearkens back to a kinder, gentler era of electronic entertainment. With simple controls and intense gameplay, it offers a fast, fun, and addictive experience reminiscent of the best video games of the late 1980's.

Micro Machines 2 is an improved version of Micro Machines, the racer featuring everyday household and school items. This time, as well as challenges and Head to Head, you have the Super League, featuring 4 divisions. There is a 4-player option and there is a time trial option as well. You can select a track in time trial, featuring more environments than Micro Machines. You have more players to choose, and you can change the name. Definitely better.

In Micro Machines 2 you get to drive around in those little vehicles that Galoob sells by the ton on some very strange tracks like the bathtub, on the dining table, and so on. You even get to choose your driver from some rather crazy looking characters.

You can start playing Micro Machines the moment you boot it up. There are only three controls that matter (turn left, turn right, and accelerate), and using them is completely intuitive. But learning the controls and mastering them are two different things; it takes many hours of practice to perfect the bumping and sliding techniques necessary for victory, and longer still to discover the subtle intricacies of Micro Machines 2's dozens of tracks.

While the gameplay is excellent, other aspects of Micro Machines 2 are less inspiring. The graphics are clean and sharp, but totally lack the “wow” factor of cutting-edge competitors. The background music is rockin' but repetitive, and the spot sound effects are too subdued to be noticeable.

The graphics are still classic birds eye view, but they are a bit better than Micro Machines. They are colourful and react with every move. The menu music is good, very lively. Sometimes you might want to watch the demo to hear it. You can beep horns this time which doesn't do much against the computer.
