This is a good game of soccer. It's easy to learn and the voices are above average for the system. It would have been better if you could name your players as well as your team. The graphics are crisp and clear, but I found the players a tad too small. Pro Moves Soccer would be a good cart to pick up if you like soccer. There are lots of options, and plenty of ways to score. Overall I recommend it.

Soccer games are usually bland but Pro Moves Soccer was a riot. The play control, although a bit awkward at first, became much more natural feeling. The graphics are very clean and the sound is decent, but the voices sound a bit grungy. The computer offers a solid challenge but it's much better against another player, since the computer likes to cheat at times. Overall, this is one of the best soccer games out.

Please understand that I am not a big fan of sports video games. So, I pretty much won't like this one. On the plus side, I think the graphics are done well, although they are a bit grainy. I also thought the voices were done very well with the calls for many moves in the game. The game played fairly well. I just didn't like the low-scoring game. The game is pretty slow and boring. Soccer fans should look into this, though.

The overhead view is kind of refreshing for a change but the game just doesn't look sharp. The characters are also small and it's hard to make out some of the important Action. I'm not a big fan of sports games and this one doesn't lure me in. The voices are surprisingly good, but the graphics need to be a bit more intense for my taste. However, the control works rather well and soccer fans will find it fun.

The designers of Pro Moves Soccer for the Genesis had a good idea for this game. They wanted to give you what you haven't had: Total control of the ball. While they succeeded in meeting this goal, the designers unfortunately forgot the other aspects of the game that make a good sports game. The graphics, sounds, and smooth game play that most of us want just aren't here. Compared to superior soccer games like EA Sports' FIFA International Soccer, Pro Moves Soccer looks, sounds, and plays like an amateur soccer game.

Pro Moves features 32 individually designed international teams that you play in one-match Exhibitions or in a 32-team Tournament. One of the coolest features is the Team Edit Mode, which lets you build and manage your own team. You start with below-average players and $100,000 that's to be spent buying new players in the Player Market. The money is like a salary cap, limiting who you can acquire. Victories and ties earn you cash, which enables you to afford better players. These transactions do add a good strategic element to the game.

ProTips:

  • In the Team Edit Mode make sure you get a balanced team. Don't load up on good offensive players and leave your defense weak.
  • When taking a shot from the side of the goal, bend the shot around the goalie for an easy score.
  • For those long-distance shots or passes, press Button B for a few seconds to increase your power.
  • On defense, keep a player from getting the ball by pressing Button C to hold him. Don't be too obvious, or the zebras will call a foul.

Put on the Moves

The control is pretty strong in this game. Pro Moves Soccer utilizes the six-button controller to execute 10 professional soccer moves, such as Head Shots, bump-n-run High Kicks, Rainbow Kicks, Slide Tackles, and Illegal Holds. The game can also be played with the standard three-button controller, but the moves require a little more timing and finesse. For instance, to perform a Head Shot, you've got to hold one button while pressing another. On the six-button pad, you simply press X.

The best control feature is the single factor that makes this game stand out. In Pro Moves Soccer, you have the ability to steer the flight of the ball once it's shot. You can even curve the ball away from the goalkeeper!

Regrettably, the graphics and sounds are pretty average. You get an overhead view of the players, but you're so far away from them you don't get much detail. The sounds don't inspire you, either.

  • The spinning-ball Demo is far cooler than the actual game.
  • Too much roughness gets you the infamous Yellow Card!

Pro Moves Soccer does have its good points, like the Team Edit Mode and various player moves. However, if you want to see a really cool soccer game on the Genesis, then check out EA Sports' FIFA International Soccer. That's the one that really kicks up some excitement.

What we have is another football emulator without any specific details. The ball is always round. But, honestly speaking, this game is more for kids with a bit strange interface and bad graphics. But what is really surprising is the great speed at which the players are running across the pitch, much faster than the ball itself and always in the wrong direction.
