Raiden is nothing more than an all-out explosion of head-to-head blaster action. You get a number of power-ups, lots of fire-power and the usual cast of bad guys and bosses. Sure, this isn't anything new, but it's presented in a very slick manner that makes the trip worthwhile!

8

An excellent vertically scrolling shooter. It isn't revolutionary as it utilizes older tried-and-true game play. But what makes this great is the fact that it does everything perfectly. Challenging game play, a good difficulty curve and graphics that are among the best on the Genesis.

7

Raiden is an exceptionally tough game in the arcade, this version is a bit toned down but still retains most of the aspects that made the coin-op a classic. Great game play that is filled with power-ups, tons of enemies to shoot at, and awesome explosion.

6

Raiden Trad doesn't appeal to me for one reason: originality. Why do all shooters have the same power-up varieties and weapons? Gaiares had first innovative power-up method in a long time! Otherwise, Raiden Trad is a good shooter, and takes its place in the huge family of Genesis shooters.

It's the year 2090 A.D. and alien forces have been launched in order to take over our world and its people. The Earth forces have only one choice and that is to attack the enemies with their new untested supersonic fighter bomber called "Raiden." You are the only one who knows how to fly this sophisticated ship, so don't let the human race down.

Bignet brings a new 8 meg vertical scrolling shooter to the Sega Genesis. There are 8 levels of intense shoot'em up action and one special stage. Plenty of power-ups and a high level of challenge make this one of the best arcade translations yet!

The popular coin-op blaster is now being scaled down into the Turbo's most powerful card configuration yet, a mammoth six-banger that features all of the action and excitement from the quarter-muncher!

All of the world's forces are being wiped out by an alien force! The Earth has looked to you to defend our planet with an experimental fighter capable of knocking out the enemy armada! You must rely on the missiles, spread beams, and mega lasers to take out all of the aircraft and the heavy artillery that now spans the globe! Raiden, that classic arcade game is faithfully recreated for players on the brand new Jaguar!

True to the coin-op in every way, you will not be able to tell the two apart! Raiden is a fast-paced shooter featuring mega-huge power-up weaponry, horrible Bosses that overwhelm you, and non-stop action.

Pilot your fighter deep behind enemy lines, and rack up as many kills as you possibly can, before your almost inevitable death. There are a lot of levels, and only the best of the best can possibly hope to survive.

As one of the first shooters for the Jaguar, you can see the potential of the system. This game is perfect for the players of the original coin-op. Raiden is a real challenge!

First brought out for the Mega Drive/Genesis, this great vertical scrolling arcade shooter is now coming to the Super Famicom. Offering a variety of different weapons and power enhancements, Raiden becomes yet another shooting game for this new game system. While this is a good version of the game, it doesn't break any new ground.

Shooters are my specialty and RaiDen is a winner. The Turbo version captures all she frantic intensity of the coin-op, with close to perfect graphics an game play. The selection of weapons is implemented well and tne general round progression is executed on target!

8

Raiden for the Turbo is one fine vertical scrolling shooter. The action gets intense after a few levels and will challenge even the best of players. Great power-ups and weapons make this an equal to the older Blazing Lazers.

7

One of the most intense arcade games ever made is now one of the most intense Turbo shooters. Same coot weapons, same vicious end bosses, and the same nonstop action that made the coin-op so good. The graphics are good, but the sound leaves a little to be desired.

7

This is an all-out blast-a-thon where only one side survives. The sheer volume of targets and well balanced selection of power-ups and end Bosses make RaiDen a classics candidate. The graphics and sound are both top notch, and the game only wears thin after extended play.

The hardly seen coin-op has now gone 16-bit! Use your highly advanced attack cruiser to do battle with the Earth's enemy in order to restore peace throughout the land!

A great translation of the arcade blast'em up is making its way to the Genesis in a big way, 8-Meg of memory that is. Raiden delivers solid shooting action in the same category as Twin Cobra and Truxton. The two main weapons can be powered up to immense proportions. Other weapons such as homing missiles and air to air missiles can be picked up as well as a super destructive smart bomb.

Chill, space jockeys! If you're craving a nerve wracking, thumb- numbing dose of good old-fashioned, arcade-style shoot-or-be-shot action, Raiden Trad, of arcade fame, may be just what you're looking for.

ProTip: To instantly snag full power weapon-wise, grab the "P" power-up when it appears.

"Trad"-itional Thrills

Raiden Trad for the SNES is a one or simultaneous two-player shooter that uses an overhead vertical scrolling perspective. Your mission is a familiar one: save the Earth from yet another horde of alien invaders, wave after wave of them in each of the game's eight stages.

The fighting begins over a country pasture, continues high above a ruined metropolis, and eventually takes you into outer space for a climactic battle with a giant alien boss. In fact alien bosses abound and you'll have to contend with an oversized nasty at the end of each stage.

The Raiden itself may look small, but it packs some firepower. Blasted enemies turn into power-ups: blue for the Laser Cannon and red for the Machine Gun. Exploded supply crates , yield Nuclear Missiles, Homing Missiles, or Medals.

Collect mucho Medals for end-of-stage bonus points.

Déjà Vu

A Configuration Option enables you to after the difficulty of the game. Easy is... well... easy for all but novice gamers. But Pro should challenge even the most diehard shooter veterans. Simultaneous two-player play is a nice change of pace, but super slowdown mars the fun. Raiden Trad is well-done, standard shoot-em-up fare, and a nice version of the arcade title. Although there's nothing new or different here, the game packs more than a few hours of good shooter action. P.S: If you're experiencing déjà vu, not to worry. This game has been previously released for the Genesis and the TG-16!

  • Grab the Fairy when you see her. The next time you die, she'll reappear and give you power-ups.
  • The Laser Cannon and the Nuclear Missiles pack more firepower than the Machine Gun and the Homing Missiles.

The Earth is under attack and only you can stop the invaders from taking over Earth. Raiden Trad is now coming out for the Super NES. Plenty of power ups are here and the action is very intense! It's 8 meg of hot 2 player action!

Now, the mega blockbuster of the arcades will be hitting the Super NES very soon! Like the coin-op version before it, a huge invasion force of intergalactic conquerors has landed and the warriors are ready to take on the world! Armed with your supersonic attack vessel, you are ready to take care of business!

To accomplish your task, you have many different weapons available. Some examples are spread shots, mega beams, missiles and even a tactical mega bomb for total on-screen devastation! Be wary, though, these guys are tough! Your screens are about to explode with action - be prepared!
