Who do you call when the local police and the FBI just can't seem to find your missing loot? The Bonanza Brothers, that's who. These bumbling brothers are in the business of legal larceny – stealing from the stealers, robbing the robbers, extorting the extortionists. In this wacky adventure you'll control the Bonanza siblings as they take over when the authorities are ready to give up. While these guys may get the job done, there's always the chance that some silly little thing might screw them up, like slipping on a banana peel or smacking themselves in the face with a rake. So, if the cops can't solve the mystery of the missing money or the stolen loot, the Bonanza Brothers are your best bet, just don't be surprised if they end up with a pie in the face!

Mobo and Robo Bonanza are enjoying their favorite television show when the picture crackled and a shadowy figure of a mysterious stranger appeared on screen. This figure asks them to collect certain items that he is placed inside various buildings to test his security force. Return the items successfully and Mobo and Robo will be rewarded. The two of them state that they will get the job done in just three minutes. However, little do they know that each building is packed with security guards, who raise the alarm if they are caught red-handed. That's why both Mobo and Robo are equipped with bullets that knock the guards unconscious for a few seconds. A $100 reward will be given out if Mobo and Robo are apprehended.

As either Mobo or Robo, you must collect all the treasures before leaving the ten buildings, and shoot any security guards that get in your way. Remember that you are under a time limit. An in-game map will help you locate the treasures. There is a bonus stage after three buildings, where the object is to collect the gold bars in a limited amount of time without one of the three spotlights shining on you. If it is possible, hide behind open doors. If you manage to get all gold bars, 10,000 points is added to your score. There are three of these bonus stages, but each of them varies.

Bonanza Brothers is different than most games in that you'll take the role of the crook, rather than the hero. The brothers have been hired to steal loot from a variety of places, such as a bank, a mansion, a mint, and a casino. Levels are viewed from the side, and characters can move left and right, as well as up and down staircases. The loot on each level is not hidden and is easy to find, as it usually has some sort of flashing light on it. Between levels there are also bonus rounds, in which you must grab as much loot as you can without letting a roaming crosshair reticle line you up in its sights.

The opposition is made up of law enforcement officers, spread throughout the game. They include security and police officers, some wearing riot gear. Both Bonanza brothers have the ability to jump and to shoot. The brothers' guns will not eliminate an enemy, but will stun him for a short amount of time. Certain well equipped enemies can block bullets with their shields.
