This game brings you as close to the ATP Tour Championship Tennis as most people will ever get.

If you enjoy playing tennis but forgot to renew your country club membership this year, then you need ATP Tour Championship Tennis. This game brings the men's professional tennis tour straight into your home, with 32 top players and 11 official Tour events that will put your skills to the test.

Each player is ranked in seven areas, such as serve, volley, forehand, backhand, and court coverage, so pick a pro that fits your playing style and hit the courts.

You can play singles or doubles on four different surfaces, hardcourts, indoor carpet, grass, and clay, each with unique characteristics and ball effects that will keep you on your toes.

If you're feeling nostalgic, you can compete against eight legends of the game, including Ilie Nastase and Arthur Ashe, and put those «What if …" scenarios to rest.

If you fancy yourself the next Pete Sampras but don't want to play as the champ, you can create your own alter ego and try to build up his ratings (there are no female players in the game) during competition. Up to four custom players can be saved to battery, each starting with ten ability points to distribute among the seven categories.

Winning matches will allow you to add more points to the different abilities, and statistics and standings are saved to battery along with each created player. The four game modes include: Exhibition Match, Exhibition Tournament, ATP Senior Tour Event (only the eight legends can participate) and the ATP Tour (which follows the 1995 schedule).

An announcer will call each game as you play a singles or doubles match on either carpet, hard court, grass or clay. Options include adjusting game speed, toggling a ball bounce pointer, and using automatic replay to view that last shot over again. Digitized black and white photographs of the pros will appear during the menu and scoreboard screens, and four players can play simultaneously with a Team Player adaptor.

The players all look the same with different color clothes on. Everything looks pretty clear and the action is smooth.
